Whatever your stage of career, and whether your interest is sharing technical knowledge, learning about international engineering practice, building your network of professional contacts, opening up new opportunities for future career options, developing your international engineering business, or simply meeting new friends, you cannot afford to miss being a member of IABSE.

Active membership of IABSE is widely recognised as an important attribute in the credentials of any engineer, or engineering business, and is worth adding to your CV. The British Group is particularly keen to encourage support to younger engineers early in their career, and this reflects one of the main aims of IABSE worldwide. To this end the British Group organises the annual Future of Design Conference and other events particularly targeted at younger members such as Journey to Success. These provide opportunities for young members to mix with senior and well known members of the profession from whom they receive inspiration, advice and support in developing their career. Many employers may pay the subscription on behalf of individual members, so please check to see whether this might be possible in your case.

To join the British Group you only need to be resident or working in the UK. Those in full time undergraduate study on an engineering or related courses are also able to join as well as graduates and researchers.

IABSE Membership can be applied for from the international group website. Membership applications and subscription payments are made directly with the IABSE International Headquarters in Switzerland.
