This important and hugely popular lecture is always given a high profile by the invited speaker\, often from overseas. The history of the Annual Lecture can be found here. \nThe 2015 Annual Lecture will be given by Mike Schlaich. He is Professor for Structural Engineering chairing the Department of Conceptual and Structural Design at Technische Universität Berlin and a Partner of Schlaich Bergermann und Partner. \nMore information regarding the annual dinner will be available soon.\n[/section] \n[section bgcolor=”#f9f9f9″ bgimage=”IMAGEURL” parallax=”true” padding=”20px 0″ border=”0px solid #ececec”]\nMike Schlaich worked in Spain as a structural engineer before joining in the firm of Schlaich\nBergermann and Partner in Stuttgart which specializes in lightweight and long-span\nstructures.\nHe became Managing Director of the firm in 2002\, which has been active in the field of\nrenewable energies for more than 20 years. Systems for solar thermal energy production\nincluding dish-stirling concentrators\, trough collectors and the solar updraft tower were\nsuccessfully developed by the office. \nHis research at TU Berlin concentrates upon active and movable lightweight structures that\ncan adapt to changing boundary conditions. An “intelligent” bridge with damping by artificial\nmuscles or experimental structures that fold away when not needed was built at the TU\nBerlin lab. \n  \n[/section]
