SUMMARY:IABSE Milne Medal and Dinner 2022
DESCRIPTION:DATE POSTPONED UNTIL 29TH NOVEMBER\nThe Milne Medal is awarded to an individual engineer for excellence in structural design\, both in the overall concept and in the attention to detail in their work\, and is named in recognition of the late Bob Milne\, who served for many years as the Honorary Secretary of the IABSE British Group. This year\, we are delighted to award the Milne Medal to Paul Sanders of COWI. \nPaul Sanders has been working on bridges and other structures for more than 30 years. He has worked for COWI for the last 20 years where he has been heavily involved in design and build projects on a wide range of projects. He is passionate about building more for less and ensuring engineers draw expertise from all key stakeholders and that all parties have a voice. \nPaul will give his Milne Medal Lecture with the title “More for less” on 9th November 2022 at the IStructE\, Bastwick Street\, London. \nMore for Less \n“Engineers are facing ever increasing pressure to deliver more for less. There has long been pressure on costs and programme as direct metrics but recent years have seen a positive focus on an increasingly diverse range of other aspects\, not least carbon and design quality. The talk will explore projects where the boundaries have been pushed and discuss key drivers. Whilst\, as a profession we have responded\, we need to ask ourselves what the future looks like and how we position ourselves to deliver even more in the future.” \nTickets for the talk are available here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/iabse-milne-medal-tickets-419811416247 \n \nMilne Medal Dinner \nThe talk will be followed by the Milne Medal dinner at a local restaurant – all are welcome to attend. Tickets are £40 for those under 35 and £75 otherwise. \nTickets and more details can be found here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/iabse-milne-medal-dinner-2022-tickets-439922107867
