David Knight
Chair
David is Director of Design at Cake Industries, a chartered structural engineer and Principal of Cake Engineering. His specialism is in engineering design for fabrication in the field of complex sculptures and bridges, with a particular focus on moving structures.

Cameron Archer-Jones
Vice-Chair
Cameron is a passionate advocate for low carbon infrastructure designs that also balance cost, constructability and safety. He has a background in structural engineering with a focus on bridges and offshore structures, having supported numerous international projects at all stages, including assessment of existing structures. Cameron operates under his own company supporting one of the UK’s largest offshore wind farm developments, as well as numerous smaller UK based infrastructure projects.

Mark Bulmer
Hon. Secretary
Mark is a Technical Director for AECOM’s major bridges group, where he leads and manages major bridge projects in the UK and overseas. He started his career working for bridge building contractors before moving to consultant AECOM in 2001; and has been involved in temporary works design, construction engineering, inspection, assessment, and design of large structures, including major bridges. His particular specialism is suspension bridges and he has been involved in over 20 suspension bridges throughout his career.

Martin Kirk
Hon. Treasurer
Martin has recently retired from a role with consultant Arup working for over thirty years on major bridges and other civil engineering works from design inception to construction completion. He was a co-author to IABSE SED14 report on “Sustainable Structural Engineering.”

Edmund Metters
Membership Secretary
Edmund works for Buro Happold, and with over 14 years’ experience as a civil engineer, he leads both bridge specific and multi-discipline projects in the UK and across the globe. Utilising his background in bridge engineering, Edmund draws on his wide range of experiences in the industry to manage and deliver each project to a high-standard. He is actively involved in the Institution of Civil Engineers and also runs the Bridges to Prosperity projects for Buro Happold.
