Future of Design Conference Manchester 2020 (FREE ONLINE EVENT)
As you are aware due to the current virus outbreak, the IABSE Future of Design Manchester 2020 will be held online tomorrow Friday 17th April 2020 and will be entirely FREE.
Join us between 12:25-14:30 (using link below) to learn about the latest engineering developments with presentations from:
- William Matthews (William Matthews Associates) – Tintagel Castle Footbridge
- Alexandra Gkoutzidou (The University of Manchester)– Novel Materials in Construction and Environmental Sustainability focusing on Graphene
- Catherine Ramsden (Useful Studio)– Social Value of Infrastructure
There will be opportunity to ask questions in a Q&A session, and the presentations will be followed by a discussion on the future of design and work in a post COVID-19 environment.
With opening and closing statements by David Knight (Cake Industries)

To those who have bought tickets to the conference already, we would like to offer to defer your ticket until the postponed event in spring 2021. Alternatively, you can receive a full refund through the Eventbrite website.
The Design Competition is still going ahead with a 2-week extension deadline to Friday 3rd April (This has now closed), and we want to assure all those who have been working hard on their submissions that your efforts will not be wasted. All entries will be reviewed and judged as planned by the 1st May 2020. The shortlisted teams will be notified, and their entries will be displayed and judged at the spring 2021 conference.
The Paper Competition is still going ahead with a 2-week extension deadline Friday 3rd April (This has now closed), and anyone aiming to submit a paper is encouraged to do so. All entries will be saved, and judged alongside entries submitted ahead of the event in spring 2021.
